Last week, SNEHA Diyun School started off the After-School classes which Human Asia and SNEHA have been implementing under Chakma Education Support Project since 2017. The students will interact with teachers and plan engaging activities, which will nurture their abilities to express themselves and participate in decision-makings, as well as strengthen their literacy skills.
The After-School classes consist of two subjects: an English literacy class and a human rights literacy class. In English literacy class, children will improve their English literacy skills as well as the ability to express themselves, and will learn to employ sociocultural perspectives into their daily surroundings.
In human rights literacy class, children will interact with teachers using topics that are crucial for basic human rights conditions. In the first class, for instance, the class discussed over the subject ‘water’ that is imperative for life, survival, and living in dignity. The class reflected on how water is important to them and expressed their ideas onto a canvas.
