With the start of 2019 New Year, two program officers, Hyunchan Jung and Yaechan Lee, have newly joined the educational development team of Human Asia. They are expected to engage in developing human rights-related education programs and undertaking in-depth research on contemporary human rights issues. We hope you will give a lot of support and interest to Human Asia which has started with new family members in 2019!
My name is Hyunchan Jung and I am a new program officer of the educational development team at Human Asia. In order to formulate the current world less inimical and more inclusive to the people of all stripes, education is certainly necessitated. Education is at the center of our Sustainable Development Goals by which to equip generations to become active citizens and human rights defenders. I hope that through education we can work towards a rigid solidarity that will empower all social groups to be full economic, social, and civic actors and will come together to create a society for all.
Along the way to Human Asia, I’ve put efforts here and there to strengthening the human rights movements with my passion to challenge Korean society’s perspectives on the socially marginalized. The more I learn one by one, the more I think that it is difficult to gather progressive voices together. With that in mind, I am nervously excited about the possibility of bringing my personal experience to contribute Human Asia’s projects and goals.
