On June 16th, the orientation of 2018 International Model UN Human Rights Council Universal Periodic Review was held at the Korea University. This year’s UPR focuses on the purpose of understanding current Human Right Issues and searching for solutions. International students, including those from Hong Kong and Japan, will be divided into 4 different governments of Republic of Korea, Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, China, and Hong Kong to understand Human Rights Issues deeply.
Participants for representing ROK and DPRK attended this orientation to gain detailed information of finals and to share their enthusiasm towards the issue of Human Rights. Throughout 4 hours of the whole session, participants were given the welcoming speech, lecture on Human Rights and United Nations, information session and the sharing session from the team-buildings.
During the team-building session, participants got opportunities to choose one topic among freedom of opinion and expression, human trafficking, rights of the children, climate change and environment, and gender inequality and violence. It was able to observe their will of knowledge and passion on current human rights issues from their sharing and movements.
